AOL E-mail

I like the fact that AOL tells a person they have mail and it has a nice, clean look.
Two bad points about AOL mail are that it is often slow on a dial-up connection and they erase your mail after a while instead of allowing for it to be saved.
It's a pretty good e-mail service, but I've seen better.

I don't like AOL...I didn't like it years ago and I still don't like it now. I find that it is not as easy to use as other email providers. It tends to get bogged down quickly even on a fast connection. And I have gotten locked out of my account for missing the password a couple of times. Overall not my favorite at all. I would much rather use yahoo or gmail.

AOL Mail

I have had an AOL account for years and have seen it change over time. Although it's a good service, I ceased using it as my primary address for a variety of reasons.
For one, I just don't like the look or layout of the site. The bold black is not appealing. Also, the AOL portal (the homepage) is full of the worst tabloid trash on the internet. Every time I sign on to the main page, I'm hit with stories about the trainwreck celebrities, as if their latest stint in rehab is real news.
All of this could be bearable if the service were superior, but both my husband's and best friend's businesses seem to block AOL email. I can receive messages from them, but whatever I try to send to their work address is blocked and sent back. I have never had this with an email service before, and it forced me to keep my Yahoo! address even after we switched phone companies and lost our SBC contract.
One thing I really do love about AOL is the ability to add pictures to the email through my AOL Shoebox, where I can upload pictures once, and then automatically paste them in the email, instead of uploading them over and over again. It saves a lot of time when I'm sending pictures to various members of my family.
