ArtApart.com was not the cheapest custom t-shirt website we came across, and they did not offer the best customer service, but they did provide thousands of fun and interesting t-shirt designs, a few great deals and a user-friendly design interface.

We do have to say the design interface was truly one of the easiest we came across. No glitches, no headaches, no problem. And if we didn't want to design our own, we could shop the designs of other ArtApart users who have created some very interesting designs.

Unfortunately, customer support wasn't the best. While there is a comprehensive FAQ, live support is virtually nonexistent and email support is very hard to get through to. Overall ArtApart.com is a great place to shop for shirts and you might want to take a look at their custom t-shirt offerings, but don't count on them for stellar support. ArtApart.com earns 5.0 Stars!

Threadless.com is a unique website, and we really liked the culture of it. While you can't just upload a design and have it printed, you can submit a design for Threadless shoppers to vote on. If your design is selected, you get $2,000 in cash and a $500 Threadless gift card. If you submit a slogan that gets chosen, the cash becomes $200 and the gift card $100.

We really liked browsing through the designs of other Threadless.com members and voting on the ones we liked. It made us feel like we had a say in what got printed or not. The 12 Club was also a unique and appealing concept. For $200 you can get a new t-shirt each month for a year. Kind of like a "gift of the month" club to yourself.

The only thing we didn't like about Threadless.com was the lack of phone support and the fact that you couldn't just print t-shirts on demand. That being said, however, the site is definitely a unique community and we definitely suggest checking it out. We give them 5.0 Stars!

CustomInk.com probably isn't going to be the t-shirt design site of choice for most of our readers. First of all, their prices are a bit on the high side and even though they say they have no minimum order requirements, many of the products we looked at did require a minimum order quantity of at least six.

That being said, if you're shopping for a group this site does offer some helpful features such as volume discounts and an online idea center that lets you customize many different templates to fit your needs. It's great for church groups, sororities and clubs.

Is CustomInk for everyone? No. But there are probably some people out there who could benefit from the features the site offers. If you think you might be one of them, they're definitely worth looking into. CustomInk earns 4.5 Stars!

Shirtcity.com proved to be a fun and trendy custom t-shirt design website. Not only can you purchase your own designs, but you can sell your designs to others and buy designs that other members create.

The t-shirt design interface was very easy to use, although we would have liked to see it be a little more feature-rich as far as text formatting goes. Other than that, we really couldn't complain at all. Except for customer service and pricing...

Shirtcity's pricing is not the best. In fact, they were one of the highest of the sites we reviewed. And while we'd like to say they're one of those company's that charge higher prices but offer excellent service, that's just not the case. There is no phone support, a very limited FAQ and 24-hour+ email response times.

Want to hit a trendy site that allows you to buy and design great shirts? This is one option, but it's not the best and it's not the most affordable out there. We give them 4.5 Stars!

Spreadshirt.com is not one of our top recommendations for your custom t-shirt needs. If you want to upload your own design and use the site because of their fast processing times, that might work. If, however, you want to work with a site that offers a variety of tools and resources as well as good customer service, this ain't the place.

First is the site's frustrating design tool. It's not as easy to navigate as it should be. And then there are the clip-art images that give the site a less-than-professional look and feel. If you're a serious designer reputation is everything and you probably don't want your designs appearing next to some amateur gifs.

Add the above to the fact that customer service is seriously lacking and the only thing Spreadshirt really has going for it is the 24 to 48 hour processing times. Then again, we don't think they get a lot of business so processing the orders they do get in a fast and efficient manner shouldn't really be a problem. They earn 4.0 Stars!
