GameZnFlix as of November 2008 website is down, we will keep the review up solely for informational purposes.
When it comes to finding the best online video game rental website, it's a matter of looking for the perfect combination of a user-friendly site, affordable pricing, huge selection, fast turnaround times and great customer service. That's exactly what we set out to find when the Star Reviews team began to compare video game rental sites on the Web. GameZnFlix was a name we'd heard a lot about, so we knew we'd have to check them out. Wondering how they stand up to the competition? Here's what we discovered...
What's New with GameZnFlix Game Rentals?
- 2 Free Issues of PC Magazine or EGM When You Subscribe
- GameBytes Podcast and Blog with GameZnFlix - News and Gaming Tips and Advice
- Rent Games and DVDs
Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:
We really like the fact that GameZnFlix allows you to rent DVDs in addition to games when you become a member. Most gaming sites don't offer a DVD collection. If you ever want to take a break from gaming (it does happen occasionally, doesn't it?) your subscription dollars don't have to go to waste. Simply rent movies from GameZnFlix instead.
The GameZnFlix Experience:
When you first land on the GameZnFlix website it looks pretty much like any other game rental site on the Web – with one exception. Those tabs along the top that let you navigate to which gaming platform you want to rent for also feature some unfamiliar categories in the gaming world – DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. That's because GameZnFlix members aren't limited to renting games from the site, they can also rent movies.
If we're going to be honest, we have to admit that the sign up pages on the GameZnFlix website look a bit rudimentary. That being said, it does request the same information every other game rental website wants including your email addy, which membership plan you want to sign up for, your mailing address and your credit card information.
When you're selecting which plan you want, make sure you check the right box. The left-hand side is to get membership without the 10-day free trial. The right-hand side signs you up with the free trial. If you've never signed up for GameZnFlix before you should probably select the free trial option to make sure you like it.
Once we had signed up we began browsing the GameZnFlix website. Unfortunately, it wasn't as user-friendly as we'd have liked to see. Navigation wasn't very intuitive beyond the platform option. Add that to the fact that we found only 39 Wii titles ready to ship and similar numbers in other categories and our hopes for GameZnFlix started to deteriorate.
Fortunately, we were able to see 552 PS2 games ready to go. That's when we figured out that it's the older systems that have the widest game variety at this site. Our advice? If you have an older system and you're not picky about which games you rent GameZnFlix might be right up your alley. If, on the other hand, you have a newer gaming system and like a wide selection of titles to choose from, this probably isn't going to be your cup of tea.

GameZnFlix Customer Service:
GameZnFlix offers customer service via phone from 8 to 5 pm CST. When we called we listened to music on hold for about 30 seconds and our call was answered by a rep. The woman we spoke to was very friendly and helpful, giving us honest and up-front answers to our questions. You can also send a help request via email. While the wait time took longer (about one business day) our email request was addressed just as thoroughly as our phone request was.
Upside:
Prompt customer service, competitive pricing, rent games and movies with one subscription.
Downside:
Not a very good selection.
