Although McAfee's security software performs reasonably well, I have found that when I needed technical support, it was not easy to come by. I ended up going around and around haveing to run the "virtual technician" before I could even get to the email and live chat options. The "email a question" option did not work properly and the "live chat" option also did not work as it was supposed to. These support options were advertised as being free, but it would seem that McAfee's lack of a properly functioning email and live chat technical support options is intended to compel a customer to have to utilize their telephone, fee based, technical support instead. At $9.95 per incident, this can readily add up in a short time. I wrote the company two times and on both occasions it took 2 weeks to even hear back from anyone. I will not be renewing my subscription to McAfee's security software when my current subscription expires in 2009. What good is it to have a product that may perform reasonably well if you cannot get the technical support when you need it?

I had this program on my old computer and it never did anything it was supposed to. I always obtained new and harmful spyware and even viruses on my computer that just absolutely ruined it. The program was constantly being updated and it still seemed like it couldn't do what it was supposed to. The worst part about it was that whenever it ran a scan, it took 7-8 hours and completely bogged down my entire computer. I couldn't do anything on my computer until the program was completed. I do not recommend this product to anyone.
