Slumdog Millionaire Movie Review
We rented Slumdog Millionaire this past weekend, it has been raining in Florida for so long there is no need to go outside anymore and since I never got to see this one in the theater, we got it on PayPerView. My wife and I both (which is odd) really enjoyed the movie, the acting and the directing.
The basic story is a 20 or so year old kid, Jamal, wins India’s version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. The story really starts when the filming for the first day ends and he is one question away from the grand prize. He is taken away by the police and “interrogated” … while short of “waterboarding” it wasn’t a pleasant conversation to say the least. After all, how could this poor kid from the slums of Mumbai answer all these questions correctly, of course he needed a lifeline on a simple question, with no education and at such a young age. It couldn’t happen.
The interrogation continues as Jamal tells the stories of how he knew each of these answers and his terrible life behind the answers. Jamal goes through his childhood and jumps to various years in his life and focuses on the relationship between he and his brother and the girl who would weave through various parts of his life. It is in intriguing take of how Jamals life is brought together in one nationally televised show and how he goes from a Slumdog Millionaire to a Millionaire.

It really is a very good movie, one that I highly recommend. There is not too much violence in it but definitely not for little children. The story line is worth putting up with the squeamish parts and I highly recommend Slumdog Millionaire.
The one thing about the movie that was incredibly odd … and I won’t ruin the ending … but why are they dancing in the train station while the credit are rolling. It is totally out of context and looks like a Michael Jackson Thriller remake. Odd, very odd.
