Just when I thought I had seen everything, I came across an invention so ingenious I wish it had been around when I was single gal on the town. The Apple iPhone has introduced a new application called "Date Check". Basically this is a system that allows you to check a potential mate’s public record for any past indiscretions, or his personal financial worth. The app is free to install, but will set you back around $40 a month. It is up to you to determine if this is too pricey. For the ladies out there who date quite a lot, $40 is worth the time you will save on a guy who is not worth the trouble.
My personal favorite option included in Date Check is the Sleaze Detector. With a name and any other piece of personal information, such as an address or phone number, you can check out your new boyfriend’s public criminal records. This would include any charges filed against him for drug possession, sex crimes, battery, and assault. Personally, I would love to know whether or not the man I am considering building a life with was ever accused of any of these crimes. It’s scary to think that we live in a world where women have to go behind a man’s back to find out if they ever had a DUI. Here is a message to every male out there: When it comes to women, a little honesty goes a long way. If you’ve ever been busted for getting into a bar room brawl, tell her first, before she uses this service.

Date Check also allows you to get a general idea of what someone is potentially worth by using the NetWorth feature. This is achieved by entering in your target’s address and receiving basic information about his financial situation based his neighborhood’s property values. For all intents and purposes, this is a sneaky way to find out if he is rich. This app is for the gold diggers out there, or any lady who want to know whether or not she will be paying for dinner tonight.
Right now this application is only available though the Apple’s App Store, but all the ladies out there who own a Blackberry or Android will have access to all their man’s personal information sometime in October. For all of those out there who feel that all of this digital snooping around is a huge invasion of a man’s privacy, the brains behind this service, Intelius, are quick to point out that all the information obtained is a matter of public record. I for one agree with this statement. As a woman I know that men aren’t always forthcoming about themselves if their past is a little checkered. Any information would come in handy, no matter how it is obtained.
