In this time of employment uncertainty, we could use all the online help we can get. I don’t know how you feel about it, but my time is worth money. Online employment sites think otherwise. Most employment sites yes the ones that are listed as career centers, leaders in the job market and every other title one could imagination, aren’t updating their sites fast enough when jobs get filled. Let me explain.

I belong to them all. I have literally joined all the
job-hunting sites there are on the internet in search for the "perfect job". It doesn’t exist. It can't exist if the links to
job offers are old and outdated. I filled out all the applications listed that sparked my interest in my area. Most job positions I clicked on took me to a page that said, "sorry, this job offer has been removed or no longer available". I clinched my teeth and mumbled "ouch". So, while over at
Snag-A-Job.com I decided to start taking phone numbers of the employers and call them directly to let them know that I was alive and that I just filled out their employment application on line. Wouldn’t hurt I thought, if they listen to me over the phone, maybe they would set up an appointment for an interview and I could at least get my foot in the door. I was told months ago that most companies don’t check their e-mail on a daily basis. I called one of the top electronic stores where I had applied and was told that the job listed on Snag-A-Job was already filled, they had no idea why the link to the job was still there and that they were not looking for anyone at the moment. So why is the link still there? Someone forgot to remove it.
Time is of the essence in today’s economy. Prospective
job hunters do not have time to waste in finding a job. We have families to feed, housing costs and everyday bills. The public needs to be able to view all the current offers of employment without having to wait 3 weeks for a reply or get the "Sorry, this
job offer has been removed" page. The internet is supposed to be the "Information Highway" only for
job hunters to be stuck in traffic. We need
career sites to take a more serious stand as to updating their sites and keeping them current.
And why not?
