It was only last week that there seemed to be speculation on the web that Apple may be able and willing to launch its own search engine for the likes of the iPhone.
Today it appears that Microsoft are in on the deal and having realised that the Apple iPhone is one of the most popular ways for mobile users to surf the web, they are now looking at repackaging Bing in order to enable iPhone application developers to add Bing search results to their applications.

Bing is
Microsoft’s replacement for the
Live Search Engine and initial views are that it is good news. Depending on how such news is measured it does appear to be bringing home some of
Microsoft’s market share back from
Google.
A senior programme manager at
Bing reported "Right now, there is an unneeded step to climb to integrate
Bing results in your iPhone app but we want to make that smooth."
By developing this new wrapper for
Bing,
Microsoft could be creating bad news for their top
rival Google. By implementing
Bing into upcoming applications, Microsoft is invading territory once dominated by Google.
Officials at
Microsoft have said the
new Bing wrapper is currently being tested and is due out within the next few weeks.
