Firefox 3.5 is here and while the rush to download it did not compare to last years release of 3.0, the browser does not let you down and is worth the download. According to Techcrunch, Firefox 3.5 was downloaded over 5,000,000 times in the first 24 hours of release which does not compare to the 8.3 million downloads of 3.0 in its first 24 hours.

The one immediately noticeable advance is the speed at which pages load. I am always skeptical when this claim is made since I always wonder what else is effecting the page load time -- internet connection, various running programs, internet activity and so much more. My first impression of
Firefox 3.5 is that the page load time is significantly faster than older versions, which was a nice benefit.
Firefox 3.5 has a lot of new features and some that are going to be very functional in your daily internet browsing.
Undo closed window – Control Z reopens the last closed browser window. A nice useful function that I know is going to be helpful on occasion
- Tab Tearing – the ability to grab a tab and pull it away and it will open itself in its own browser window. Nice for working on multiple pages at the same time where you need to see what is on the other page.
- Awesome Bar – this is the “suggestion” tool in the URL section. So when you start typing in a URL, it makes the suggestions much quicker than in the past.
- Better Session Restore – when you reopen a crashed browser session you have the option of not opening all the tabs. This stops you from opening the window that caused the crash in the first place.
- Porn Mode – yea, they call it Private Browsing but, it is for porn. Private Browsing mode eliminates any history or remnants of the web pages that you have been browsing.
Firefox 3.5 has a lot of higher end features, or more technical features, but some of the day to day uses of the upgrades really make version 3.5 worth the download time. Download Firefox 3.5.
