For the first time in the history of EA's legendary Madden football franchise, the games cover will feature two stars. Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals will represent the NFLs offense and Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers will represent the defense.
The latest installment in the Madden series is being touted to feature what EA Sports is calling "the Fight for Every Yard." WIth that the case it is easy to see why they chose Fitzgerald and Polamalu as their cover faces.
Fitzgerald is the second player in 21 years to have the honor of being on the cover of both NCAA and Madden. Can you name the first? Well it was Shaun Alexander and he fell prey to the notorious Madden Curse. Fitzgerald said he wasn't worried about the curse which also victimized Donovan McNabb and Vince Young. Curse or not, as a 3 time Pro Bowler and this years Pro Bowl MVP it is easy to see why he was chosen as the offensive player for the cover.
Polamalu has also appeared in multiple Pro Bowls and has two Super Bowl rings in his collection. He is a ferocious and tenacious defender who is always around the football. If the them this year is indeed the fight for every yard, I couldn't think of a better player in the NFL to have on the cover.
