Single sheet print-outs - These are one page only. There are lots of kits available in this style so you can print your own. However you can also order single sheet
wedding invitations from most printers. They are simple and to the point but do not include a map or extra information. The RSVP card is separate as well as a map and other items if you choose to include them all in the envelope together.
Folded cards - These
wedding invitations look and fold like a regular greeting card although the sizes can vary. The main details are printed inside and other information such as the map, RSVP, registry cards and so forth are printed on separate sheet and placed inside. They can be very simple or quite elegant depending on the paper selected and type of printing chosen.
Tri-fold designs - The
tri-fold wedding invitation can take on many forms. It can fold like a brochure with folds on the left and right or fold up and down so it’s almost like a lift the flap design. The three folds allow you to separate your information so you can list the ceremony details, reception ideas and other things on separate folded sections.
Pocket invitation cards - These
wedding invitations are much more fancy and have pockets inside that hold insert cards with all the details. This allows you to create a pocket for each bit of information such as the RSVP, registries, hotel and travel information and so on.
Photo invitations -
Photo wedding invitations can be any style but have a photo of the couple included. The picture can be screen printed, stuck on or inserted in a slot.
Scrolls - A return to Old English ways and traditions the scroll is a fun way of inviting people to your wedding. These require special handling and delivery but are extremely unique and will certainly set your wedding apart from others.
Then there are different kinds of fonts and printing that can be done on whatever style of
wedding invitation you choose. Here are the most common.
Embossing - A three dimensional image on the page made with a combination of heat and pressure.
Blind embossing - The image and font is raised and embossed in the same color as it would appear on the page.
Calligraphy - A style of writing using a specialized pen with unique tips.
Offset printing - Normal printing like that done on any newspaper, brochure or flyer.
Thermography - A raised lettering effect that is shiny and made with ink and powder being fused together.
Letterpress - A printing method that makes the type look like it was stamped on the page. Great for multiple colors.
