If you're planning a wedding, formal event or party anytime soon one of the things you’re likely working on is a seating chart. Proper seating management is an important part of the success of an event as people want to be seated with others they get along with well. Also important is that their seats are in the correct area. For instance at a wedding the parents of the bride and groom are always seated closest because they are the ones with the most seniority for the event. Thus a seating chart is of the utmost importance. So how does one designate where everyone sits so they can easily find their predetermined seats? With wedding place cards of course. Wedding place cards are typically simple folded pieces of cardstock with a guest’s name printed on it. Boring. If you want to make your party stand out and wow your guests you need to get a lot more creative. These are some fun ideas for great place cards that will make an immediate impression.

Luggage TagsThese are great, especially for
destination weddings. Get some nice luggage tags that guests will want to use again and insert a card with their name on it in the see through slot. It doubles really as a favor and a
wedding place card in this sense. If you wanted to make them extra nice and could afford to spend more you could get metal luggage tags and have them engraved or leather tags with burned in names.
Mini Photo Albums
Find some nice metal or heavy photo albums that can stand up. Insert a card with the guest’s name into the front slot where a photo would go and they have a photo album to take home with them and fill with wonderful memories.
Lollipops
Everyone loves a good lollipop. Find some large colorful circular lollipops, the old fashioned ones that are somewhat flat and have a swirl pattern to them. Then take some cake decorating gel and write each guest’s name on the lollipops. The gel will harden leaving you with a fun, festive way of assigning seats.
Mini Topiaries
Get some small topiaries, no larger than eight inches likely and attach a wedding place card to the tree. It’s "green," lively and can compliment a garden or outdoor wedding well. Plus guests can take them home and plant them in their garden or yards if they so please.
Painted Stones
Good for a nature themed wedding. These are simple and ever so cheap. All you need is a bunch of large stones. Clean them up a bit, polish them if you like and then paint the guest’s name on each. It’s fun and different, something they will be sure to remember. Plus it’s “green” or eco-friendly.
Seed Packets
Share some love and give everyone seed packets. Personalize these by placing a sticker or tag on them with the guest’s name. They can go home and plant some of your seeds to help the love continue to grow and share your happiness with you always.
So whatever party or event you are hosting, custom place cards are an ideal way to organize that seatting chart and give your guests a reminder of the wonderful event you have hosted.
