When someone thinks of a birthday party they often think of a child’s celebration. However adults do have birthday parties too, it’s just less frequent and adults are generally less enthusiastic about their birthdays than kids. Adult birthday parties are less about the cake and present and more about enjoying the company with some fun entertainment and good food. Themed parties are great for important or special birthdays (30, 40, 50, 60, etc.) where you decide to actually throw a big bash. These themes are great for adults of all ages and can be tweaked a little to fit your exact interests or accommodate the crowd you’ll be inviting.
Casino/Vegas Party - Create the look and feel of a casino. Use bright colored Christmas lights hung from the walls, countertops, and railings to add some bright light color like that of Vegas. Hire some card dealers and rent casino tables so guests can play all night long. Make fake money with the birthday honoree's photo on it. Blackjack, craps and roulette are all great choices as well as a poker table or two. Set up a buffet table with lots of finger foods and have a bartender serving martinis, mojitos and other cocktails. For those who don't like to gamble set up a karaoke station where guests can try their best to sing and have fun laughing and dancing.
Pajama Party - Make it a casual affair and remember what it was like to be a kid again. Ask guests to dress in pajamas. Play the birthday guest's favorite movies and break out the board games. Serve popcorn, sweet treats, pizza and other junk food. If you want to turn it into a sleep over set out airbeds and futons for party guests to crash on for the night. Then get up in the morning and fix a large breakfast.

Back in the day - Set the theme in the decade of the birthday person's birth. Choose decor that matches that decade, play music from that time and serve food popular at the time. Decorate with photo montages of the birthday guests through the years. Play games related to the time period such as a guessing game about what things cost back in whatever year the birthday guest was born.
Beer Fest - For the beer lover! Serve beers from all around the world. Decorate with international flags and beer merchandise such as posters, neon bar lights and lots of coasters and beer coozies. Set out place cards that label each type of beer and give a little bit of information about each beer. Serve party or bar food that goes well with beer such as wings, chicken strips, fries, slider burgers and quesadillas.
