Anyone who lives in subzero winter temperatures will tell you their dream is to get away from the snow, ice, and cold. Most Americans looking to escape in winter are monetarily limited to venturing south into states such as Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisiana. If you’re like me you’ve dreamed to getting away to an exotic locale that is reserved for the ultra rich or ultra lucky. Here are a few of my dream getaway ideas.
Venice, Italy. Indiana Jones said it best when he uttered the phrase "Ah, Venice"! Venice is one of the world’s most culturally relevant, ornate, beautiful cities. Venice is especially breathtaking in February when the Italian put on its own version of "carnival" up and down the canal near St. Mark’s Square. This is definitely a trip for anyone who wants to pique their intellectual curiosity. There are museums, such as Palazzo Ducale, Peggy Guggenheim’s Collection, or the Ca’ Rezzonico (Museo del ‘700 Veneziano, or Museum of 18th century Venice). Venice is also littered with historic churches, bridges, libraries, and most importantly, world class shopping. Staying at the best hotels in Venice will also cost you about 500 Euros, or around $750 American dollars a night. These include the Bauer IL Palazzo and the Hotel Gritti Palace. Only the best will do while staying in this amazing city.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dubai has quickly become the stomping ground for the most elite, and extremely wealthy, people from all corners of the globe. This location is filled with miles of beaches, fine dining, nightclubs, shopping, the Wonderland Theme Park, and a host of other hedonistic distractions that will help pass the time. Don’t expect to visit Dubai with a few bucks in your pocket and a prayer because it takes a lot of cold hard cash to stay at the best hotels, such as the Burj Al Arab, which will set you back a mind boggling $1,500 American dollars for a single night in one of its best rooms. Thankfully Dubai also has many other natural and manmade wonders, such as the Hatta Rock Pools and the Jumeirah Mosque, just ready to welcome you when your cash runs out.
Musha Cay, Exhuma Chain. The Musha Cay is a 150 acre island that lies 85 miles southeast of Nassau, Bahamas. The island boasts seven “private” beaches, unspoiled lush tropical beauty, and a sense of peace that is rarely found in this hectic, modern world. All this can be yours for the low, low price of $24,750 a DAY! That’s right, a day for this dream getaway. That’s not all. You can bring along 24 of your closest friends, but this will only make the rates drastically increase.

It would be amazing to be independently wealthy and have the ability to afford any of these dream getaways, if only for a day. I’ll have to settle for sipping a Margarita underneath my electric blanket while I close my eyes and pretend to feel the warm tropical breezes.
