Flowers seem to be the traditional wedding decoration that most couples choose to dress up their special day locations. But flowers are incredibly expensive and entirely overdone. Thus those seeking to save money or be unique in their design are turning to balloons as a decorating source and it makes sense. First of all balloons are cheap. You can rent a helium tank and buy a pack of balloons for under twenty dollars easily where it’s hard to even find a single bouquet of flowers for that price much less cheaper. Second, you can play with them. Everyone loves balloons, they’re like a symbol of childhood youth and wild imaginations. Third, it’s something you can do yourself with minimal effort, training or creativity. Lastly, you can use balloons in a variety of ways, here are some ideas.
Arches Get married under a balloon arch. Balloon arches have been used to decorate doorways for quite some time and now couples are having them made to serve as their ceremony arch. Balloon arches can be as simple as a long string of balloons tied down on either end to create an arch shape to an intricate pattern of multi-colored, multi-layered balloons weaved together in a variety of shapes.
Centerpieces Ditch the traditional flower arrangement and play with your tabletops. Create a festive centerpiece by varying balloon lengths, levels of inflation and even shapes to create a modern art look.
Chairs and other tables Tie balloons onto the back of the chairs and additional tables like the one used for the sign-in, the cake table and the present area. This is one of the quickest and cheapest forms of decoration.
Ceremony release Instead of releasing doves, butterflies or some other critter let a bunch of balloons go. You can personalize it and make the release more special by writing love notes and placing them in the balloons before they’re inflated so when they are released your love is sent off flying high in the sky.
Favors Attach a balloon to a favor of some sort such as a box filled with candy, a sachet of potpourri or other small trinket. Or better yet, stuff a small, lightweight smooth-edged favor into the balloon so guests have to pop it in order to get their gift.

Like anything balloons do have some special considerations. First of all they’re not a decoration you can prepare ahead of time. While you may be able to inflate them one day before it’s certainly not something you can do two weeks prior. Second, for an outdoor wedding you need to factor in the weather. Rain and wind can be disastrous for balloons and ruin your plans completely. Or if you’ll have guests that may make your decorations into target practice then you might choice otherwise. Balloons are a great, fun, versatile decoration that everyone seems to enjoy.
