With the current stature that the world is in as far as the extensive pollutants being released in the air and things of that nature, a lot of companies are trying to look for cleaner and safer ways to get around. Of course, whenever someone overhears the term get around they automatically think of their motor vehicle.
Our vehicles are used for so many different things. In fact, a lot of studies have shown that the emissions that our vehicles release via their exhaust are actually causing the pollution factor to escalate. Hydrogen powered cars are actually in the midst of production.
These vehicles are designed to run off of an alternative fuel known as hydrogen. As everyone knows, hydrogen is a gas and it is what combines together with oxygen in order to create our every day drinking water. Do not fret, and think that you will be paying for water when you can get your own water from your house.
Hydrogen powered cars are actually going to be running off of hydrogen which is a substance that is not found naturally on the earth. The hydrogen that is going to be used to power vehicles, hopefully in the near future will replace gasoline which most cars presently run off of at this present moment.
Hydrogen is not considered to be an energy source. However, it is considered to be somewhat of an energy carrier. This new and improved fuel can be made from many different substances; however it is currently being made from a mixture of methane and fossil fuels at the present times.
We all know that hydrogen can come from water. However, in order to commence in doing hydrogen electrolysis of water it would be extremely expensive and the source of fuel would not be powerful enough in order to allow motor vehicles to work to their full capacity.

There are a lot of companies that are presently researching the feasibility of being able to utilize hydrogen as a main fuel source for motor vehicles. In fact, a good majority of automobile makers have already begun working on different hydrogen powered cars that they hope to release in the near future.
However, despite all the excitement that is arising about these hydrogen powered cars, the Ford Motor Company has actually announced that they will not be releasing any hydrogen powered cars in order to compete with their competitors. Instead the Ford Motor Company is going to engage in steadily working on improving electrified vehicles for the future.
There are already some hydrogen powered cars that have already been created. However, most of those cars were simply made for demonstration purposes. As of October 2009, there were only 200 cars that were made to run off of hydrogen that were produced in the United States.
The thought of driving a car that is powered off of hydrogen may seem odd to some. However, these cars cannot only help cut down on the pollution problems that the world is facing, but may be able to keep us all on the road if the oil supply begins to run thin.
