Each and every day, more consumers are realizing the benefits of supplemental insurance policies. The problem is, not many know where to turn or who to trust for their supplemental insurance needs. Fortunately, the Star Reviews team has overcome that obstacle with our supplemental insurance reviews. Want to know how Colonial Life stood up to the test? Here's the scoop...
What's New with Colonial Life Supplemental Insurance?- Voluntary insurance plans offered through employers and workplaces.
- Offers disability, life, and supplemental accident and health insurance policies.
- Is a subsidiary of the nation’s top provider of group and individual disability income protection insurance.
Star Reviews' Favorite Colonial Life Feature: Our favorite feature of the Colonial Life website is the "Who We Are" section, detailing the company’s history, services, and goals. This section provided a list of quick facts about the company, informing us that it was founded in 1939 and currently serves more than 50,000 businesses and organizations, among other interesting facts. We really enjoyed getting the chance to familiarize ourselves with Colonial Life as a company before looking into its services.
The Colonial Life Experience:
To be honest, when we first entered the Colonial Life website we felt it was a bit stuffy. The section titles are worded so formally that it is hard to understand what they are referring to. That being said, however, they homepage does mention that they company is in the process of re-doing its web content for a more user-friendly experience.
While it is true that the site didn't win us over in the beginning, we began to like it more when we dug in deeper. The menu was well-organized and navigation was intuitive, making it easy to find detailed information about each of the plans we were interested in. All of the categories were clearly defined and easy to locate on the page, and the pages loaded quickly.
We have to admit that we also liked Colonial Life's extensive customer service section, which includes a wealth of information about insurance plans and policies. That being said, Colonial Life policies can only be purchased by businesses for employee use, so this website is not the place to go if you’re looking for personal supplemental insurance plans. If, however, you need to shop for supplemental insurance for your employees, this site is a must-see. Colonial Life Features:

- Support for brokers and sales organizations.

Colonial Life Pricing:
Comparing pricing for standard supplemental insurance is hard because the plans and types of coverage vary from one company to the next. Instead, to get an idea of how competitive a company is in pricing, we decided to get rates based on a standard criteria of a $600,000, 20-year life insurance policy using the same information on each of the supplemental insurance websites we provided. This way we can see how the companies compare in price to one another using an "apples to apples" approach. This is the cost comparison breakdown:
