Fantasy – it’s the product of our imaginations and, when we're lucky, we can make it a part of reality as well. This is well-demonstrated through the use of fantasy sports websites where one can take sports dreams and make them happen – virtually anyway. Today the Star Reviews team thought we'd take a look at the FOX Sports website to see what kind of dream teams we could create. Here's what we learned from our experience...
What's New with Fox Sports?- Users can create their own sports home page.
- Interact with other sports fans.
- Create your own sports blog.
Star Reviews' Favorite Fox Sports Feature: We really were impressed by the website's player analysis tools. This feature allowed us to figure out who the best players would be for our fantasy teams and also helped us determine the best team combination for winning. For those new to the fantasy sports arena, this will be a huge plus.
Navigating the FOX Sports on MSN Website: Browsing around in the FOX Sports fantasy sports section on MSN can be a little challenging if you are not sure what you are looking for. There are many links to a variety of sports topics that can quickly have your head spinning. This, however, is lessened by the fact that once you have your account set up, the navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen lets you quickly access data that is designed specifically for you. This includes any teams and/or leagues that you have created as well as news that directly relates to your teams. It really makes finding what you need much simpler.
FOX Sports Features:- Fantasy sports for a variety of game types.
- Public and Private leagues.
- Research option to view past performance of athletes.
- Simulation Games
- Message Boards
The FOX Sports Experience: When we signed up we expected to be overwhelmed by the process. This, however, was not the case. Registration with the website is relatively painless. In fact, if you already have a Windows LiveID, you can use it to log on right away.
If you do not have a Windows LiveID, getting one is as easy as supplying an email address, user name and a password. Once you’ve signed up, adding and creating a team or a league is an easy and straightforward process.
Once logged in there are a lot of features and activities that one can participate in. For example, we were able to create our own sports page, which we dedicated to our favorite team. We also had the ability to create our own blog, allowing us to express our own views and opinions about players or teams.
The Star team couldn't get enough of the FOX Sports simulation games. This feature allowed us to pick any two teams and see almost instantly the projected winner based on the preceding year’s statistics.
Of course, we would be remiss in our review if we did not note that this site is crowded with links. Not that having so much information just a click away is bad. It just makes it very easy to get lost in pages and pages of articles and sports related information.
FOX Sports Fantasy Pricing: The FOX Sports fantasy sports services are free to use. Just register and you're on your way.
FOX Sports Fantasy Customer Support: FOX Sports customer service was a bit hard to find. We searched all over the fantasy sports site and could not even find a link to help us. We finally resorted to using the site search feature which brought us some results. It appears that the majority of available help is offered through the use of FAQ sheets. Other than that, the presence of one small “contact us” link will allow you send an email requesting help. If your experience is like ours, you'll receive a general response within 2 business days. This isn't the quickest response time, but still reasonable.
Upside:
Free to use, lots of fantasy sports information, great analysis tools.
Downside:
Customer support isn't as extensive and easy-to-access as we tend to expect.
Summary:
All in all, we felt that the FOX Sports fantasy sports section provided through MSN was a good site. Best of all, it's free to use and you have access to a ton of fantasy sports news and information. Almost any sport you can think of is available here and there are some great tools for analysis as well. You can see which players will be most successful and the best combination for potential wins. Users can create their own sports pages and blogs, which we thought was a huge benefit. Customer support was a bit of a drag to find and primarily offer Help through FAQs. There is email support which responded efficiently back to us within 2 days. We think FOX Sports is a decent choice.
