Regardless of what some people would have you believe, email marketing is not dead. Sure, spam laws and an overabundance of tacky email ads have made a successful email campaign a bit more of a challenge, but it is still one of the best ways to communicate with potential and existing customers. Our Favorite iContact Feature:

We really liked the fact that iContact offers real-time reporting of your email campaigns. You'll be able to see how many people received, looked at and followed through on the emails you sent as it happens via the company's easy-to-understand real-time graphing reports. It definitely beats the guessing game so many business owners end up playing when sending out marketing emails.

The iContact Experience:

When we landed on the iContact homepage we found it was very easy to navigate, but felt the site lacked any real in-depth information about the services it offered. The features page, for example, listed the various features the service offered by name, but didn't explain exactly what these things did. While we were happy to see things like SpamCheck, bounce-back handling and subscription management included, we'd have liked to see more details on exactly how these features worked.

That being said, iContact does offer a free 15-day trial so it's not too hard to get to the bottom of how well the service works and what it really offers. Signing up for the trial was very easy. We simply filled out a very short form located right on the iContact homepage and we were on our way. They didn't even ask for our credit card information, which was a huge plus in our book.

Once we had signed up for the free trial we were able to access the features of the iContact service and found them to be quite valuable. The site offers numerous tools for managing your email lists, creating messages and surveys, setting up auto-responders – you can even host images in your iContact account!

We really liked the tracking page of the iContact account management section. We could track all of the messages sent using the service including auto-responders. There was even a tool to track the surveys created using the iContact survey creation tool.

We also really liked the iContact community. Using this section of the site we could work on attracting new customers (something other email marketing services don't always help with), get content on Google and other search engines, manage discussions about your content and meet other iContact members.

If you're looking for comprehensive email marketing services at a price almost anyone can afford, iContact should definitely be one of the first companies you turn to.

iContact Customer Service:

iContact offers support via toll-free phone and email. Our call was answered within seconds by a very helpful representative who was more than happy to answer our questions. We have to say, in today's world where hold times of 3 to 4 minutes are par for the course, a 10-second hold time was a relief. Email support was also prompt, responding to our inquiry within hours of it leaving our mailbox. iContact is definitely on top of its customer service game.

Upside:

Excellent customer support, free 15-day trial, extremely user-friendly.

Downside:

It can get quite pricey if you have a larger-than-average email list.
