Keep Violent Video Games Away From Your Kids - No doubt we are in a video gaming craze. Young and old alike enjoy spending endless hours parked in front of their gaming devices in an effort to get to the next challenging level. Video gaming has become a multi-billion dollar industry and is growing daily. Video games ranks number one in front of movies and music as the preferred method of entertainment. Games have become more realistic where players can virtually become the characters in the game. Many games connect to the Internet where players can compete against other players all over the world which can lead children right into the hands of online predators. While many games can be educational, the majority that children are drawn to are violent videos games. Read More

GameFly
GameFly is definitely one of the top picks when it comes to online video game rentals. Not only do they have a huge selection (literally thousands) of game titles to choose from, but you get to keep the games you really like by paying a discounted "keep it" fee. To make the deal even sweeter, GameFly gives you $5 GameFly dollars for every three months you're a member, so some of those purchases could end up being free.
- 10-Day Free Trial
- 14 Free Issues of Sports Illustrated or Entertainment Weekly w/ Subscription
As far as pricing goes, GameFly isn't the cheapest but they are definitely in line with the competition. The only thing that really disappointed us was the fact that the company doesn't really offer phone support, but prefers to handle customer inquiries via email. If you don't mind electronic communication when you have customer service concerns and you like the idea of earning free games that you get to keep just for staying a member of the service, then GameFly is probably one of you best bets.
GameFly deserves our Top Rated placement with 6.0 Stars.

GottaPlay
GottaPlay is definitely a bit unique and if you like the idea of trading games with other GottaPlay members in addition to renting them from GottaPlay itself, then this might be the right pick for you. Learning the ins and the outs of the GottaPlay system may be a little complicated. This is due in part to the fact that the trading system works differently than the rental system, so you're basically managing two services at once.
- Fastest delivery times, guaranteed.
- Free 10 day trial.
The pricing of GottaPlay was definitely competitive. Just make sure you understand that the "three out at a time" subscription doesn't offer a free trial and you have to pre-pay for that membership three months at a time. If you're on a budget, the one-out or two-out plans will definitely be more affordable. Last, but not least, GottaPlay's customer support could use a bit of improvement. Phone support was nothing more than a recording and email support was less slow for our expectations. All in all, with fastest delivery times guaranteed, a good selection of games, and competitive pricing we feel GottaPlay deserves our Most Popular placement with 5.5 Stars!

Gamerang
Gamerang does keep up with the competition as far as selection goes, and they do have a membership plan that allows you to rent up to 4 DVDs at a time (most sites only allow 3), but there are some serious drawbacks to the service.
First, there's the pricing issue. They're more than twice as much as the competition in some instances and they require a deposit for two of their plans (in addition to high pricing). For example, if you want the 3-out-at-a-time membership, get ready to fork over $49.95 per month plus a $75 deposit. At GottaPlay.com you can get the same plan for about half the price and no deposit is required.
And you'd think the company would offer phone support with such high prices. No such luck. Email support was the only option we had access to (besides the online knowledge database) and their response times were less than stellar. Overall, Gamerang may be great if you really, really need a 4-out-at-a-time plan, but you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. Star Reviews gives them 4.5 Stars!

GameZnFlix
GameZnFlix as of November 2008 website is down, we will keep the review up solely for informational purposes.
GameZnFlix has a lot of potential and if you don't mind a limited selection of games to choose from, this could be the perfect place for you to sign up. The problem is with the newer game systems like Wii and PS3. The titles available for those platforms are severely limited.
On the bright side, GameZnFlix does allow you to rent movies in addition to video games. If you've been juggling both gaming and movie rental subscriptions, this could save you some cash. And speaking of saving cash, GameZnFlix's pricing is definitely competitive, coming in much lower than the competitors pricing for similar membership plans.
We couldn't complain about the company's customer service. While email support could have been prompter, we had a 30-second hold time for phone support. It doesn't get much better than that.
All in all, GameZnFlix is a great choice for those who aren't too picky about the selection or quantity of titles available; GameZnFlix deserves an Overall Rating of 1.0 Stars!
